Ben is a director in the dispute resolution team, specialising in health and safety, public inquiries and incident response. He works with his colleagues to help clients arrive at the right solution to their issue, minimising impact and maximising success. He is supported by our extensive dispute resolution practice with a proven track record in the highest-profile cases and has multi-sector expertise.
He has a particular expertise and advises on incident response, large scale investigations, regulatory and criminal enforcement, inquests, public inquiries and regulatory compliance. He advises across a range of sectors with a particular specialism in rail matters. Ben also has experience of advising on wide range of regulatory matters including policy, authorisations/approvals and exemptions.
Ben has worked for two health and safety regulators, working in-house for the rail regulator, the Office of Rail and Road for over three years and separately advising and acting on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive for over a year.
He has a background in general crime and previous experience with sports regulation, specifically anti-doping matters working in-house at the UK’s anti-doping regulator.
Ben originally qualified as a solicitor in general crime and acted for defendants at every stage of the criminal justice system from the police station through to the Court of Appeal.

Major logistics company: Advising in relation to a criminal prosecution following a child fatality at a rail depot under the management of a major logistics company.
Covid-19 Public Inquiry: Advising the Chair and managing the Inquiry legal process on Modules 1 and 2A of the Covid-19 Public Inquiry as part of the Solicitor to the Inquiry Team.
Omagh Bombing Inquiry: Advising the Chair and managing the Inquiry legal process on the Omagh Bombing Inquiry as part of the of the Solicitor to the Inquiry Team.
