Anson focuses his practice on tax litigation and tax controversies. He represents corporations, partnerships and high net worth individuals in disputes with federal, state and international taxing authorities. Anson handles issues ranging from employee retention credits, foreign tax credits, charitable donations, research credits, accounting methods, estate taxes, penalty abatement, transfer pricing and other foreign and state income allocation. Chambers USA noted strengths are being "pragmatic, practical" and "developing strong arguments for clients."
He has written on topics ranging from the statutory interpretation to corporate tax reporting for publications including the Journal of Accountancy, the Federal Lawyer, and The Practical Tax Lawyer. He has been quoted on tax matters in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and other daily newspapers. He is a frequent speaker on substantive and procedural tax issues for the American Bar Association, Tax Executives Institute, and other local and national professional associations.
Anson is a retired officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and a former professor at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He was a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Gale, U.S. Tax Court.
