Andrew O'Connor KC

Andrew has been instructed in many of the leading inquests and inquiries of the last 15 years, both acting as counsel to the inquest/inquiry, and representing participants. He has considerable experience of national security litigation and some but not all of his inquest and inquiry work has been in this field. He acted as Junior Counsel to the Inquests in the 7/7 Inquests, and as Counsel to the Inquiry in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, the Litvinenko Inquiry, the Dawn Sturgess Inquiry and the UK Covid-19 Inquiry. He acted as Leading Counsel to the Inquests in the East London Inquests – the inquests into the deaths of the four young men killed by Stephen Port, the so called ‘Grindr Killer’. He represented SMG, the operator of the Manchester Arena, in the Manchester Arena Inquiry. He has acted for social media companies in a number of inquests, including representing Pinterest in the inquest into the death of Molly Russell. He is currently acting as Leading Counsel for the MOD in the Independent Inquiry into Afghanistan.
