Career

André de Sousa Vieira joined the firm in 2020 as a partner in the Project Development and Finance Group (Energy & Infrastructure) and he is currently leading the Singaporean office. He has previously worked for a decade in the Energy & Infrastructure Group (Worldwide Projects Group) at Clifford Chance LLP (London), where he co-headed both the Portuguese and the Lusophone Africa practices. He is particularly recognised for advising complex syndicated loans, sovereign debt, asset finance, export-credit and international project development and finance transactions in the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors, having represented lenders (DFIs, ECAs and commercial banks), sponsors and governments. André has been working on numerous matters involving Sub-Saharan Africa with a particular focus on Portuguese-speaking African countries.

Over the years, he has been a lecturer and researcher at various institutions, including the Portuguese Catholic University (Lisbon, Portugal), the Agostinho Neto University (Luanda, Angola), the University of Barcelona, and the Harvard Law School (Cambridge, USA). He is also a member of the Bretton Woods Committee (Washington, USA), where he collaborates with the Climate and Energy Transition Finance Group.
