Amna is a senior associate and head of the Family Migration team within our immigration division.

Having specialised in this area of immigration law for over a decade, Amna has developed excellent working practices in ensuring a smooth application process for clients applying for family visas from both inside and outside the UK. She holds a very high success rate of over 95%, owing to her meticulous attention to detail and tenacious approach to presenting complex evidence in an attractive and compelling frame.

Amna also advises on a range of other areas such as skilled worker applications, nationality law and domestic violence applications. She has keen interest in the best interests of children including human rights cases and intercountry adoptions.

Her clients have a global footprint and range from companies to high-net-worth individuals and families.

She is found to be exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, well-informed and professional with clients leaving highly positive commendations for her. She is often invited to attend as a keynote speaker at various university, Law Society of Scotland and legal events.

She speaks fluent Urdu and Punjabi. In December 2015, she won the ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ award at the Scottish Asian and Business Awards. In 2017 and 2019, the same body recognised her as a finalist under the ‘Rising Star in Law’ category.

Amna is a graduate from the University of Aberdeen. She has previously served as a member of the Children’s Panel in Glasgow for 5 years, supporting infants, children and young people in local communities across Scotland. She undertook her traineeship at McGill and Co and spent 10 years at the specialist Immigration law firm developing her unrivalled reputation before joining Burness Paull in 2021.

In 2022, Amna became a Councillor for Glasgow and Strathkelvin for the Law Society of Scotland. She also continues her role as the Scottish Co-convenor of the Racial Justice and Equality Working Group at Immigration Law Practitioners Association.

At Burness Paull, she is a trustee of the Burness Paull Foundation and a founding member of our internal Race and Ethnicity Working Group.
