Álvaro José Rodríguez is a partner at Posse Herrera Ruiz. His practice focuses on natural resources and energy, specializing in oil and gas, mining and environmental law, mergers and acquisitions, and financing of the electricity sector.

His work includes the structuring, documenting, and negotiation in oil, gas, and mining transactions, including host country, shareholder and operating agreements.

He has advised important international companies in the acquisition and subsequent operation of assets for exploration and production in Colombia, in tenders, farm-ins, mergers, options, and other agreements. He has also worked on mergers and acquisitions in other sectors, such as power generation, biofuels, and gas transportation, as well as with international banks for financing transactions, union statements, and financing guaranteed with reserves.

Alvaro advised the Minister of the Environment as a negotiator on behalf of the Kyoto Protocol and the Free Trade Agreement with the United States of America.”
