Alexandre Chequer is a partner in the global firm of Mayer Brown. He is global head of the Oil & Gas team and a member of the firm’s Partnership Board. He focuses his practice on oil and gas and energy transactions, regulatory and project development, with more than 20 years of experience representing oil and gas and energy companies in Brazil, Latin America, Africa and Asia. He is located in both the Houston and Rio de Janeiro offices.

Alex has been consistently ranked as an outstanding lawyer by Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global and Legal 500 each year since 2007. He has been selected for "Leaders in their Field" recognition in the areas of corporate/M&A, energy and natural resources and oil and gas for several years.

Alex’s experience highlights his versatility and flexibility. The broad range of his work includes merger and acquisitions, regulatory and project development of large infrastructure projects, including LNG, GTL, Gas to Power, pipelines, FPSOs and refineries; unitizations; exploration, development, and production operations; production sharing contracts; host government negotiations; and dispute resolution (litigation, arbitration, and expert testimony).

Alex is a member and former board member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
