Career

Adam Levin is head of the Americas Litigation practice at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader and represents some of the country's most well-known companies in complex matters, ranging from multibillion-dollar lawsuits to high-stakes investigations. With a focus on life sciences, pharmaceutical, and consumer disputes, Adam is a Chambers-rated litigator who applies experience, practical solutions, and a team-oriented approach to our clients' most challenging issues.

During a career spanning more than 25 years, Adam has defended cases collectively alleging more than $15 billion in damages, served as lead counsel in multiple multidistrict litigation (MDL) matters, and handled more than 50 class actions. He has argued against and won multiple motions for class certification under antitrust, RICO, and consumer protection theories, including the denial of class certification in a significant pharmaceutical matter in 2024. He also was trial counsel and obtained a unanimous victory from the Connecticut Supreme Court to defeat a nationwide class action alleging nearly US$100 million in damages. And he has experience handling all aspects of class action and other discovery, trial, and appellate proceedings, as well as federal and state investigations and state attorneys general matters.

Adam is also a trial lawyer with a commitment to public service. His trial victories include successfully defending and prosecuting a US$90 million dispute, and he served as trial counsel for one of the most high-profile civil rights matters in a generation: the landmark Tulia, Texas case that led to the release of 12 persons from jail, pardons for 35 persons, and a civil settlement.

Adam also serves on the Global Leadership Team of the firm’s Disputes practice and previously was Group Manager of Litigation for the firm’s Washington office. Before joining Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, he clerked for the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell on both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
