The Hong Kong team has decades of experience acting for clients in Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Korea and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. We have an excellent reputation for

delivering top quality advice and client service on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Our lawyers combine knowledge of the local markets with an understanding of our client’s

We act for clients locally, in Mainland China and across the Asia-Pacific region. We have strong relationships with some of the best local firms across Asia so that we are able to resolve issues for our clients wherever they may arise.

    Principal areas of work

Banking and financial markets disputes:A conflict-free banking litigation practice, we specialise in investment banking and funds management – particularly the capital markets. We can act against large investment banks and work ‘off-panel’ in disputes between banks where one party’s usual firms are not able to do so.

Commercial contracts:Get your agreements delivering more. We advise on drafting and negotiating a broad range of industry agreements. These range from the largest outsourcing deals to smaller, yet business-critical, supply contracts and consumer-facing terms and conditions.

Commercial disputes:We know litigation inside out. At any one time, more than half of our lawyers are handling complex, large-scale global disputes.

Competition:Merger control, compliance, cartels, antitrust and competition litigation. We’re here to advise you on all aspects of competition law. Whether you’re a claimant or a defendant.

Construction:We defend negligence claims against engineers, architects, designers, contractors, mechanical and electrical engineers, and quantity surveyors. Insurance plays a big part in the management of construction risk. We resolve complex construction disputes cost-effectively.

Corporate/M&A:We will support your growth and development through industry-best corporate transaction advice, be it M&A, private equity investments, refinancing or joint ventures, internationally.

Employment, engagement and equality:Restructuring your business? Realigning your workforce? We’ll advise you on all the employment issues. Such as navigating TUPE and large-scale redundancy programmes, including collective consultation.

Finance:We advise on leveraged and acquisition facilities, to commercial loans and banking facilities, we offer a full range of banking and lending services including all aspects of corporate funding, and support growing corporates, start-ups, funds, and private equity clients.

Insurance and reinsurance:For over 70 years, we’ve been helping insurers achieve their ambitions internationally. From complex claims to high-stakes transactions, our expertise ranges from insurance disputes, coverage, defence and monitoring across all business lines, to recoveries, policy wording and a range of insurance products and services.

IP, technology and outsourcing:Technology drives all businesses. Our dedicated team provides technology-specific advice on intellectual property, outsourcing, data protection, M&A, regulatory matters and dispute resolution.

Media:We are defendant-focused and handle all manner of disputes involving media companies from defamation and privacy complaints, to data protection, contempt and reporting restrictions issues, including advice on content risks to the various press regulators.
