Lambadarios Law Firm was founded in 1863 by Konstantinos E. Lambadarios Sr. in Athens and has been operating continuously since then with a well-respected Greek and international clientele. Today the firm numbers over 30 lawyers, all located at its offices in the centre of Athens. Many partners and associates are well respected individuals in their fields of expertise both nationally and internationally. The firm established itself as a leader in the field of foreign direct investments during the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, it continues to advise a number of international corporations that came to invest in Greece during that era. With a solid base of clients, the firm has grown considerably diversifying the categories of work that the firm offers to its clients. It is the firm’s policy to strive to provide a high level of legal advice without disregarding personal contact with clients. Proof of this approach is that the firm has clients who have been with it for over 30 years, such as Goodyear, Procter & Gamble, Heineken and Dow Chemical. In 2016 the firm was awarded the Chambers “Law Firm of the Year Award” for outstanding achievement in the year. The firm also added as Partner Kostas Botopoulos, the former chairman of the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission, further strengthening its capital markets and banking expertise. Recognising the impact of data protection business, it recently decided to create a separate TMT department headed by Chara Daouti, the firm’s expert in IT, data privacy and internet law who advises clients on issues relating to business, including GDPR compliance. The firm has also recently strengthened its Project Finance and Energy practice with the addition of partner Yannis Kourniotis, a leading practitioner in this field who joins the firm to lead its Project Finance practice.

Corporate & Mergers & Acquisitions:
The firm’s expertise includes due diligence reviews, initial public offerings, acquisitions as well as an active advisory role to a number of clients listed in the Athens Stock Exchange. It advises on all aspects of M&A transactions, from the structuring of the deal, its negotiation and documentation and, if required, filings to the HCC. The firm has worked on advising the Public Gas Corporation DEPA on the EUR 1bn demerger of the group into DEPA Infrastructure and DEPA Commercial. It has also advised DEPA on the privatization of both DEPA entities.
Litigation & Arbitration:
The practice is top tier with four partners ranked by this edition both in domestic litigation and international commercial arbitration. George Panopoulos and Constantinos Lambadarios have been appointed as ICC arbitrators in International Commercial Arbitration cases. The firm represents clients in all types of proceedings, from applications for injunctions to complex, cross-border litigation as well as representation in the European Court of Justice. It has recently been involved in a number of high profile ICC arbitrations against the Greek state representing SAIC S.A. on a multimillion breach of contract claim and two Spanish construction companies in their claims against the Greek state arising out of two road concession projects with a combined value of over EUR 2bn. On the litigation front, it has recently represented Swiss bondholders in a renowned bankruptcy case of FFG, a company listed on the ATHEX. Recently, the firm won a EUR 200mn award for a French client in an ICC arbitration. LLF is also representing one of the four Greek systemic banks in an ICC arbitration.
Banking & Finance & Capital Markets:
The firm’s banking and finance practice represents clients in all aspects of financing transactions. Transactions range from origination and negotiation to documentation and closing, and when necessary, to enforcement and reorganisation. The firm also advises clients on the issuance of bond loans and IPOs. It recently advised a major international bank on debt capital and securitisation. Also, the firm recently completed a EUR 400 million credit facility for a French multinational and the Single Liquidator project for the servicing of EUR 9 bn of NPL’s by a consortium including Hoist Finance and PWC. The firm has acted on a series of projects for Alpha Bank over EUR 130mn. It also advised DK on the acquisition of an NPL portfolio of nominal value over EUR 800mn and is currently advising Piraeus Bank on the selling of an NPL portfolio of nominal value over EUR 700mn.
Project Finance & Energy:
The firm has been retained by a consortium led by a major construction company for advising on the EUR 1,2bn road concession project of the Crete North Axis and to advise the Lenders on the privatisation of Athens International Airport (AIA) and the privatization of Egnatia road concession in North Greece. On public procurement the firm advises pharmaceutical, tire, heavy machinery and aircraft manufacturers on government tenders. The firm has been retained by a consortium to advise on the EUR 1bn Hellenikon Integrated Casino Resort project. It is also advising the Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) in its acquisition of a 20% participation in the FSRU of Alexandroupolis.
TMT, Data Privacy & IP:
The firm’s practice includes IP portfolio management and consulting as well as copyright, trademark and unfair competition litigation. The firm regularly advises its clients on their online practices as to copyrights, data processing and protection, domain names and consumer protection. It also advises Sony Music on copyright issues relating to the production of music and artists’ rights as well as the leading US search engine on all IP and privacy matters including litigation on data privacy matters and the ‘right to be forgotten’ case law.
The firm has a long standing reputation as a go to firm for complex Real Estate issues. It is currently advising Hines on investments of over EUR 200mn in hospitality retail and office assets as well as several leading European and US funds in complicated structuring and acquisition projects including tax planning. The firm’s Real Estate team advises two major listed REITs on their acquisitions, as well as a series of international investors such as the leading German real estate investors Aroundtown.
The firm routinely advises both domestic and multinational clients on all aspects of competition law including the formation of selective and exclusive distribution networks in Greece, Dominance and Cartel cases. It has also recently handled two Phase II merger investigations by the HCC that have been cleared on the commitments offered by the parties. The firm has also advised on the first ever crisis case and the most complex cartel case to come to the HCC involving over 50 construction companies.
