Xiaosu Zhu is a distinguished legal professional with extensive expertise in corporate and commercial law, restructuring and insolvency, and entertainment law. As Vice President of the Management Committee and Senior Partner at Watson & Band, Mr. Zhu brings a unique blend of international experience, academic prowess, and practical legal acumen to serve clients in complex business matters.
Mr. Zhu's academic background is exceptional, holding an LLB and a BA degree in international economy and trade (second degree) from Fudan University and Shanghai International Studies University, along with a TEM8 Certificate, Mr. Zhu continued his study in Europe at Leiden University in the Netherlands and obtained an LLM degree (with honors). He is currently a PhD candidate at Leiden University. His qualifications extend beyond traditional legal practice, being recognized as a senior professional in WTO legal affairs by Shanghai municipality and holding a Copyright Transaction Certificate.
Prior to joining Watson & Band, Mr. Zhu gained valuable international experience at the Prosecutors' Office of the International Criminal Court (ICC, the Hague), the Netherlands-China Trade Promotion Committee and the Legal Department of a Fortune 500 company. This diverse background enhances his ability to navigate complex international legal landscapes.
Mr. Zhu specializes in various fields including corporate and commercial law, restructuring and insolvency and entertainment law with abundant practical experience. He was named one of the Top 10 Outstanding Young Shanghai Lawyers in the sixth evaluation and selection of the municipality, and later named an "Outstanding Lawyer in Shanghai" for 2019-2022 and received the honor of "Oriental Lawyer". He was also selected among the "National One Thousand Lawyer Talents for Foreign-related Legal Matters" by the Ministry of Justice. From 2019 to 2024, Mr. Zhu was consecutively listed in Asia-Pacific Guide published by Chambers and Partners, the international legal rating authority, and was highlighted as being "quite familiar with FDI, day-to-day company operations, JV and liquidation legal services and widely recognized by domestic and overseas clients" for his outstanding performance in "corporate and commercial law".
As a scholar-practitioner, Mr. Zhu has contributed significantly to legal literature, authoring award-winning essays on commercial transactions His essays were awarded the first prize of the research program "Trade Remedies Theory and Practice" by the Ministry of Commerce, the first prize of the Lawyer's Forum for Six Provinces and One City in East China and the third prize of the Fourth China Trade Remedy and Industry Security Awards.
朱小苏律师在上海外国语大学法学院和复旦大学取得法学学士学位、国际经济与贸易本科学位（副修）以及高等院校英语专业（TEM）八级证书，随后赴欧洲留学并在荷兰莱顿大学获得法学硕士（优秀毕业生）学位。现为荷兰莱顿大学法学博士研究生，并持有上海市WTO高级专业人才岗位资格证书以及上海市版权局版权交易证书（版权交易经纪）。在加入华诚律师事务所之前，朱律师曾先后服务和实践于海牙国际刑事法庭检察官办公室、荷中经贸促进会以及某财富五百强企业在华投资公司法务部。
朱律师专注于公司商事、破产与重组、娱乐法等领域的法律事务，具有丰富的实践经验。曾荣获第五届“东方大律师”称号，第六届上海市优秀青年律师称号，入选2019-2022年度“上海市优秀律师”名单并获得第五届“东方大律师”的律界殊荣。此外，还曾入选司法部全国千名涉外律师人才、上海市法学会首批青年法学法律人才。2019年-2024年连续入选国际权威法律评级机构钱伯斯榜单，朱律师以在“公司商事领域”的业绩获得“非常熟悉诸如外商直接投资、日常运营、合资企业、清算等法律事务，备受国内和国外公司追捧”的高度评价。
除从事专职律师工作，朱律师还多次就商事交易法律领域的议题进行演讲，发表专业文章数十篇，曾获商务部“贸易救济理论与实务”研究活动一等奖、华东六省一市律师论坛论文一等奖、第四届中国贸易救济与产业安全研究奖三等奖等奖项。
朱律师目前还担任上海市徐汇区人大代表、上海政法学院法律学院兼职教授、上海市律协长三角律师业一体化促进委员会主任、破产与不良资产业务研究委员会副主任、上海法学会破产法研究会理事、上海市破产管理人协会监事等社会工作，同时也是上海市青年联合会第十二届委员、致公党上海市委内部监督委员会委员、徐汇区2015-2017年度学科带头人、致公党徐汇区委委员兼秘书长、徐汇区人民法院特约监督员等。
