Vik Tang

Vik is a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer on long-term secondment to Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung. He heads our Indonesia corporate practice and specialises in cross-border M&A and private equity, with particular strength in financial services, fintech, TMT, healthcare, consumer and real estate sectors.

Vik has broad experience in cross-border transactions involving Asia and the UK, with a particular focus on Indonesia, where he has been based since 2012.

Vik is described by clients as “very competent and knowledgeable in market and regulatory practices” and “always generous with his time and knowledge”. He has an “excellent reputation for handling complex cross-border mandates” and is “one of the best lawyers that I've had the pleasure to work with.”

Vik previously spent 10 years in London working at a “magic circle” firm, and 5 years at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Singapore, working on cross-border M&A transactions before re-locating to Jakarta, where he has spent the last 12 years of his career. He has also previously been seconded to Morgan Stanley in London.

Vik is qualified to practise in England and Wales.

He is a registered foreign lawyer by the Indonesian Bar Association (Peradi).
