Tristan is a Group Partner in the Corporate Department and the Lending and Finance Department in Guernsey and joined Appleby in 2024.
Tristan has an extremely broad and in-depth experience of all Corporate & Commercial, Banking and Finance and Regulatory work, gained over 20 years of offshore practice. He has particular expertise in corporate acquisitions and corporate advisory, together with financing matters (including real estate finance). Tristan regularly acts on both lender side for both mainstream lenders, private equity houses and alternative financiers and on borrower side of deals. Tristan also frequently advises on regulatory issues across all supervisory laws pertaining to collective investment funds and licensees.
Career
Prior to joining Appleby, Tristan was Head of Corporate at Babbé. He has also spent considerable time at Ogier and Collas Crill.
Tristan qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2007.
He attended Exeter University to gain his LLB and Nottingham University for his LPC.
Work Highlights
Tristan is currently instructed on various extremely high-profile matters in Guernsey and the United States involving for example,
(i) acting for a private equity house making a very substantial lend to an acquirer of a regulated vehicle in Guernsey
(ii) acting on another very significant matter for the acquirer of a global steel manufacturing group and
(iii) acting for an acquirer of another very significant regulated entity in Guernsey. He has been lead offshore counsel for several years for Volkswagen and Porsche in relation to data protection matters.
Clients
Tristan acts for Lloyds, Barclays, UBS, Rothschild and other global lenders and private equity houses such as Warburg Pincus.
