Tjarda Tazelaar

Tjarda Tazelaar is an expert in corporate law and the head of our M&A team. He specializes in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings, and advises corporations and investors in a variety of market sectors.

In 2023, Tjarda was involved in several large mandates related to cross-border M&A transactions and international restructuring projects. This included advising a leading global executive search and leadership consulting firm on their multi-jurisdictional corporate restructuring, including a cross-border merger into Europe.

Last year, Tjarda’s team also advised a global life science ingredients distributor on their acquisition of a specialized food ingredients distributor headquartered in Curaçao with local presence in various jurisdictions across South America. Other transactions that Tjarda and his team worked on in 2023 include advising a US based timeshare corporation on their contemplated acquisition of a number of resorts in St. Maarten (transaction on hold) and advising a listed international pharmaceutical corporation on the anticipated expansion of their business operations into the Dutch Caribbean through M&A (transaction pending).

Tjarda is qualified as a lawyer both in the Dutch Caribbean and the Netherlands. He is a board member of the Curaçao International Financial Services Association (CIFA).
