Stephen, co-head of Bennett Jones' Innovation, Technology & Branding Group maintains a practice focused on energy, utility and infrastructure related technology, procurement and outsourcing, technology transfers, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate / commercial matters related to technology. He has significant technology related experience in connection with the engineering, construction, commissioning, operation, and revamping of energy, utility and infrastructure facilities. Stephen is also a registered trade-mark agent and advises on matters concerning licensing, registration and protection of intellectual property in Canada and abroad. Stephen's practice also includes a focus on information law, including seismic, privacy, social media, document retention and access to government information and he regularly appears before Canada's various Information and Privacy Commissioners.

Personal
Stephen currently serves as a Chairman and Director for the Calgary International Language Foundation and as a Director for the Aspen Family and Community Network. A former board member and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee of the Science Alberta Foundation. Prior to his work with the CFIS, Aspen and the Science Alberta Foundation, Stephen served as a director for the Calgary Habitat for Humanity Society.
