Sophie is a partner in our tax group, having joined Macfarlanes from a major US law firm in October 2022.
Sophie advises private credit, private equity and alternative asset fund managers on a broad range of funds and investment structures. These include fund formation and separately managed account arrangements, fee and carry structures, and secondary transactions.
She also advises on all aspects of corporate tax, including domestic and international corporate and finance transactions, mergers and demergers, and corporate reorganisations. She has a particular expertise in the tax implications of financial restructurings.
Sophie is a member of the Revenue Law Committee of the City of London Law Society and a frequent contributor to leading industry journals.
In 2022, Sophie was awarded Tax Lawyer of the Year at the Women in Business Law Awards EMEA and was included in Law.com’s list of top 25 UK female lawyers under 40.
She is also a member of the firm's private equity tax forum. PETF offers a variety of interactive events, including technical training sessions, roundtable discussions on key developments and guest speakers as well as social events.
