Mr. Siwei Luo is a partner in the dispute resolution practice of Chance Bridge. His areas of expertise include commercial dispute resolution, intellectual property, special assets, insolvency and bankruptcy.
Mr. Luo specializes in handling complex commercial disputes and has represented dozens of domestic and foreign listed companies, large conglomerates and financial institutions to participate in litigation, preservation and enforcement proceedings at all levels and special courts in China. He has handled a significant number of arbitration cases before major arbitral institutions, which includes the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC), the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), as well as judicial review cases derived from arbitration.
With a comprehensive educational background in engineering and law, Mr. Luo is both qualified as an attorney-at-law and a patent attorney, and is highly experienced in handling intellectual property issues. He excels in dealing with unusual cases, such as high-adversarial interpleader disputes and disputes concerning competitive interests of commercial and financial data. He is particularly skilled in assisting clients to achieve their business objectives through litigation approaches.
Mr. Luo has considerable practical experience in the field of insolvency and bankruptcy. He has been responsible for and participated in a wide range of judicial restructuring, off-court reorganization, bankruptcy and compulsory liquidation cases as a member of the bankruptcy administrator or the liquidation group and as an advisor to the creditors, debtors, funders or investors. Also, he has represented clients in nearly 100 bankruptcy derivative actions.
Mr. Luo has a proven track record of handling pioneering, adversarial, complicated and influential cases in relevant fields, including many initial cases. These cases have been selected as China Top 10 Most Valuable Intellectual Property Cases, Top 10 Model Cases of Bankruptcy Trials in Guangdong Province, Top 10 Model Cases for Serving Supply Side Structural Reform of Guangdong Courts, Typical Case of Intellectual Property Protection for the Digital Economy by Shenzhen Courts, and Typical Cases of Shenzhen Lawyers.
Mr. Luo has also made achievements in academic and professional research. He has published several papers and dozens of articles in academic journals and professional platforms such as Southeast Law Review (CSSCI), Yuelu Law Review, LexisNexis and Wolters Kluwer. He has participated in research projects such as Research on Key Legal Issues of Urban Renewal Dispute Resolution (commissioned by BAC), as well as the preparation of manuals or journals such as 100 Questions on Private Equity Risk Disposal (in cooperation with Shenzhen Local Financial Supervision Bureau).
Career
Mr. Luo joined Chance Bridge as a partner in 2024. Prior to that, Mr. Luo practiced with King & Wood Mallesons and Merits & Tree Law Offices successively, and worked as an in-house counsel in Tencent Legal.
