“Sheroy Zaq is one of the best lawyers in London. I remember when he helped me cancel my flight - he also told me that he would get me out of detention and that is exactly what he did. Thank you.” - Client, 2018

Work Highlights

AAA v Secretary of State for the Home Department (Rwanda) [2022] EWHC 3230 (Admin) - Sheroy acted as a lead solicitor on behalf of a number of individual claimants, non-governmental organisations and a civil service union in this litigation, which was the primary challenge to the Secretary of State for the Home Department's flagship policy of removing asylum seekers to Rwanda. The High Court held that the decisions made in the cases of all individual claimants represented by Duncan Lewis were made unlawfully by the Defendant.

HT, Detention Action and The Public and Commercial Services Union v The Secretary of State for the Home Department - The claimants in this litigation contended that the Secretary of State for the Home Department was operating Manston House Short-Term Holding Facility unlawfully. All people held at the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility were subsequently moved into alternative accommodation elsewhere. The rapid emptying of the facility took place after this challenge was brought; the first challenge of its kind.
