Sebastián Yanine

Sebastián Yanine focuses his practice on complex litigation and domestic and international arbitration. With more than 20 years of experience in dispute resolution, He represents Chilean and international companies, investors and other clients in high-stakes disputes, often involving significant commercial, regulatory and strategic considerations.

His experience includes corporate and post-M&A disputes, as well as matters arising in the real estate, infrastructure, construction, energy and mining sectors. He also advises on disputes involving state liability, regulatory measures, expropriations and delays in the granting of permits.

Sebastián has acted in arbitrations under the rules of CAM Santiago, the ICC and UNCITRAL, and has represented both foreign investors and states in investment arbitrations before ICSID. He regularly advises clients on disputes in which legal strategy must be closely aligned with broader business objectives, including matters requiring the coordination of contractual, regulatory and commercial considerations.

Before founding ESYF Abogados, Sebastián was a partner at Bofill Escobar Silva Abogados for more than 12 years, from the firm’s founding until its closure. Earlier in his career, he was a foreign associate in the International Arbitration practice at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in New York and an associate at Bofill Mir & Álvarez Hinzpeter Jana.

Sebastián serves as an arbitrator at CAM Santiago and is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Santiago Court of Appeals. Since 2024, he has also served as a delegate to the Chilean National Committee of the ICC.

Sebastián earned his law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the University of Chile.
