Sean Larkin KC is an exceptional silk with a formidable reputation across financial crime, serious crime, regulatory law and private prosecutions. Known for his ability to master vast, complex material and pinpoint decisive issues, he is a tactician of the highest order and a persuasive, unflappable advocate.

A former head of QEB Hollis Whiteman’s Corporate & Financial Crime Group, Sean has acted in many of the most significant cases of recent years, including Glencore, Barclays EURIBOR/LIBOR, ENRC, BAT, Unaoil, Amec Foster Wheeler and the FCA’s largest prosecution in Operation Cotton. He represents corporates, directors and professionals in allegations of bribery, fraud, insider dealing, money laundering and regulatory breaches, often with international or cross-jurisdictional dimensions. He is also highly experienced in issues of disclosure, privilege, sanctions and restraint.

With 35 years’ experience at the criminal bar, Sean has prosecuted and defended the most serious cases of homicide, terrorism, sexual offences and organised crime, and appeared in ground-breaking decisions including R v Gul in the Supreme Court. His regulatory practice is equally distinguished: he has acted for and against regulators including the GMC, GDC, FCA and SDT, and has extensive experience in health & safety and workplace fatalities.

Sean advises in private prosecutions, particularly in financial crime and intellectual property, and is renowned for his insight and versatility.
