In 1998, Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He worked as a project engineer at CMS Energy for six years developing and managing a variety of energy infrastructure projects around the globe including high pressure natural gas pipelines, low pressure gas gathering systems, upstream and downstream processing plants, gas and liquid storage projects, and independent power plants/distributed generation while attending law school at Wayne State University School of Law.
