Sandra is a Guatemalan IP lawyer with broad experience in all of the IP field. She has been working actively for 23+ years managing the administration of IP portfolios, prosecution and enforcement of such portfolios and has now become a key reference for IP issues in Guatemala and also in cross-border matters. On 2012 she did her Master’s degree in IP in Turin (Italy) with the WIPO/Turin program. She is an active member of INTA, currently working with the Data Protection Committee for the second term (2022-2025). Sandra has also worked as a consultant for the EU, with the implementation and education of IP Matters with the Free Trade Agreement signed by Central American countries with special interest in relation to Denominations of Origin. She was the President of the Committee of Intellectual Property in the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) for the term 2018-2020, and Vice President for other 2 years, pro bono. Sandra has also been an external consultant for the Secretariat of Central American Integration -SIECA in association with the EU in a program for implementing IP strategies for identifiying and to protect the association's IP Assets through the creation of an Intellectual Property Protection Policy. On the academic field, Sandra has taught at Francisco Marroquin University as an invited professor, at the Galileo University of Guatemala in the customs administration and international commerce master’s degree and was a contributor for Guatemala of the Stanford CIS WILMap program. Her experience as a University Professor caused the interest of local authorities to ask her for trainings in relation to IP matters which later evolved in the creation of a protocol with the customs authority in Guatemala to enforce customs border measures. Sandra has been ranked as Leading Individual, Star Associate in Chambers & Partners, and Next Generation Partners in Legal 500, ranked by WTR and Who’s Who Latin America Edition.
