For more than 25 years he has been part of the Costa Rican insurance market, and, years before the opening of the insurance market in 2008, he advised on the drafting of the laws that led to its opening, representing the private sector through the Chamber of Insurance Intermediaries. In regulatory matters, he has advised local and foreign investors on acquisitions for the incorporation of insurance companies and insurance intermediaries, and the transformation of insurers' and insurance intermediaries' licences; the structuring of general conditions and insurance contracts; and the analysis of reinsurance contracts to cover the insurance entity's risks. He has supported reinsurers in highly complex cases involving claims arising in Central America. He has represented insurance companies in dispute resolution, as well as insurers' clients in civil liability cases. He advises financial groups, banks, brokerage firms and other entities on Regulatory Law and Insurance Law. He advises the Chamber of Insurance Intermediaries and the Association of Private Insurers, both on regulatory projects issued in the sector and on legal and regulatory training. He has advised on the updating of bills in Costa Rica such as the Compulsory Motor Insurance Act, engaged by the Inter-American Development Bank.
