Practice Areas

Rogier is dedicated to international commercial arbitration. He is co-practice head at Enhance Arbitration. He launched Enhance Arbitration with Bas van Zelst as the continuation of their arbitration team and practice at Van Doorne N.V.

Rogier acts as lead counsel, expert and arbitrator on, primarily, M&A, joint-venture and investment claims (Dutch and foreign seated). Rogier also works as co-counsel. He is particularly active in the Energy, Life Sciences and Technology sectors.

Career

Rogier graduated Law & Economics (University of London) and Civil Law (University of Leiden). In 2011, Rogier was seconded to Royal Philips Electronics.

Professional Memberships

In 2021, Rogier completed a second term as court member at the ICC Court of Arbitration. He also contributed to the Advisory Council of the NAI (for about 10 years). Currently, Rogier is active on the IBA and ICC's Arbitration Committees (chairing the Dutch ICC Committee until September 2022). He further contributed to the NAI Rules drafting committee for the 2024 NAI Rules and sits on the DIS Arbitration Council. Rogier is co-chair of the ICC's Working Group on Expedited Arbitration.

Publications

Rogier has a solid academic record, with a focus on evidence and emergency and fast-track arbitration. He has also published on the usage of arbitration rules (including LCIA, DIS and ICC) under the Dutch Arbitration Act; the IBA country guide for the Netherlands; and the Max Planck Institute's notes on NAI arbitration. He is also a guest-lecturer at various universities.
