Practice Areas
Rogier specialises in international commercial arbitration. He is co-practice head (with Prof. Bas van Zelst seconding as second partner).
Rogier acts as lead counsel, expert and arbitrator on a many M&A, joint-venture and investment claims (Dutch and foreign seated). Rogier also works as co-counsel. He is particularly active in the Energy, Life Sciences and Technology sectors.
Career
Rogier graduated Law & Economics (University of London) and Civil Law (University of Leiden). In 2011, Rogier was seconded to Royal Philips Electronics.
Professional Memberships
In 2021, Rogier completed a second term as court member at the ICC Court of Arbitration. He also contributes to the Advisory Council of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute and the IBA and ICC's Arbitration Committees (chairing the Dutch ICC Arbitration and ADR Committee).
Publications
Rogier has a solid academic record, with a focus on evidence and emergency and fast-track arbitration. His work includes: publications on the usage of the main arbitration rules (LCIA, DIS and ICC) under the Dutch Arbitration Act; the IBA country guide for the Netherlands; and the Max Planck Institute's notes on NAI arbitration. He is also a guest-lecturer at various universities and arbitration-lecturer at the Dutch Law Firm School (professional bar education).
