Career

Rodney E. Gould is an international authority on travel and tourism law. His multi-jurisdictional trial and appellate practice spans the United States. He routinely counsels travel-related entities throughout the world and has often served as an expert witness. He co-authors the 1567-page text Litigating International Torts in U.S. Courts.

Rod made his mark in travel and tour operator law in the late 1980s when he was counsel to a tour operator whose program was disrupted by the PLO hijacking of the Achille Lauro and who then sued the PLO for damages. In another decision, he appeared before the Florida Supreme Court in a case involving the death of an 11-year-old boy on a safari who was dragged from his tent and killed by hyenas. Rod successfully argued that a parent’s agreement to binding arbitration in the travel company’s contract bound the parents to arbitrate claims arising during the safari.

Rod has authored many articles and regularly addresses travel associations. Legal journals often feature Rod about his practice and cases.
