Career
Richard Hall is a Partner in the Hong Kong office of Conyers. Richard joined Conyers in 2006. Richard's practice includes all aspects of corporate law with specialist expertise in corporate finance, including private equity investments and pre-IPO financings, initial public offerings and listings of shares of BVI, Cayman and Bermuda companies on stock exchanges globally, including Hong Kong, Korea, London and the United States of America, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers and privatisations (including by way of statutory merger and scheme of arrangement), restructuring exercises and private equity investment.

Provided Cayman Islands legal advice to Budweiser Brewing Company APAC Limited in connection with its HK$39 billion (US$5 billion) initial public offering on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock code: 1876). The issuer is a beer manufacturing company that produces and distributes over 50 beer brands including Corona, Hoegaarden and Stella Artois. It is also the largest beer company in Asia Pacific by retail sales value in 2018. This matter won the Equity Deal of the Year by IFLR Asia-Pacific awards 2020. It has been shortlisted as one of the Impact Deals by ITR Asia Tax Awards 2020 as well as Equity Market Deal of the Year -Premium by The 17th SSQ ALB China Law Awards 2020. It has also been nominated at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2020 for Equity Market Deal of the Year.
Provided Cayman Islands legal advice to BlueCity Holdings Limited in connection with its successful initial public offering on the Nasdaq Global Market raising approximately US$85 million. The issuer is a global leading online LGBTQ platform, providing a full suite of services aimed at empowering the LGBTQ community in every aspect of their daily lives. This matter won the China Business Law Journal’s Deals of the Year 2020.
Provided British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands legal advice to Huazhu Group Limited in connection with its issue of the aggregate principal amount of US$500 million 3.00% convertible senior notes due 2026, including the issue of an additional US$50 million 3.00% convertible senior notes due 2026 pursuant to the exercise of the option by the initial purchasers, convertible into fully paid Ordinary Shares of par value US$0.0001 each in the capital of the Company represented by American depositary shares. Huazhu Group Limited is a leading and fast-growing multi-brand hotel group in China with an international coverage operating under leased and owned, manachised and franchised models. As of 31 December, 2019, Huazhu Group Limited was the second largest hotel group in China and the ninth largest in the world in terms of the number of hotel rooms. This matter has been shortlisted at the SSQ ALB China Law Awards 2021 for Equity Market Deal of the Year – Midsize.
Provided British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands legal advice to HUTCHMED (China) Limited (“HUTCHMED”) in connection with its HK$4.553 billion listing on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited of the shares of HUTCHMED involving a Hong Kong Public Offering and an International Offering (Stock Code : 13). This was the third listing of the shares of HUTCHMED, in addition to its current listings on Nasdaq and London AIM. HUTCHMED is a biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and sells pharmaceutical products. They offer drugs for autoimmune diseases and oncology treatment. This matter has been shortlisted for “Deal of the Year – Equity Market” by ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2022.
