Practice Areas

Richard is the practice group head of the Litigation department of Allen & Overy Amsterdam. He specialises in dispute resolution with an emphasis on corporate litigation, securities litigation and directors' and professional liability. He has a wide range of experience in handling disputes related to public takeover bids and other corporate transactions, shareholder activism/battles and corporate governance related litigation, amongst others before the Enterprise Chamber of the Court of Appeals in Amsterdam. Richard advises and represents both public and private companies, as well as family offices. He recently advised and represented Aegon, ING, Deutsche, KLM, Vattenfall, PostNL and the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Richard joined Allen & Overy in 2000 and has worked in Allen & Overy’s Amsterdam and New York offices. He publishes regularly and is a member of the Dutch Association for Corporate Litigation. He teaches professional ethics at the Law Firm School and is a member of the Advisory Board of Rechtswinkel Amsterdam, a legal aid centre run by law students.
