Rhys qualified with a large commercial firm in Scotland before moving to Northern Ireland in 2007. Having spent the first few years of his career specialising in mergers and acquisitions, Rhys joined Johnsons in 2010 in response to the continued growth of Johnsons Corporate and Commercial client base. Rhys advises on mergers and acquisitions, business sales and purchases, restructures and joint ventures. He is also regularly called upon to advise on partnership issues, intellectual property law and a wide variety of commercial contracts.
In addition to corporate and commercial matters Rhys has developed a specialism in advising businesses on all aspects of consumer law, particularly with regard to the retail and automotive sectors.
Rhys also advises the firm’s commercial clients on both contentious and non contentious employment law matters, including representation at Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment Tribunal.
Rhys is a part-time lecturer in company law at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Queens University Belfast and is also former Secretary of the Company and Commercial Lawyers Group NI. Rhys is qualified to practice in Northern Ireland, England and Wales.
