Career
Renato studied international history and politics at Leeds University. He spent a year as a commercial litigator before joining the family department of Bates Wells & Braithwaite in 1998. Renato joined Hughes Fowler Carruthers at its inception in 2001 and became a partner in 2005. Renato has been recommended as a leading individual in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for many years. Chambers HNW 2021 described Renato as "excellent" and as someone who has “great judgement”. Chambers HNW 2020 noted that "each step is carefully judged, and tenacity is what comes across". Legal 500 2021 praised him for having a “first rate legal mind,” describing him as “charming to his clients but tenacious with the opposition”. Renato is ‘Top Recommended’ in Spear’s 2022 Family Law Index. He has lectured in the UK and overseas on various aspects of family law.
