Renato Giallombardo

He spent the first 30 years of his professional career at Gianni & Origoni first in antitrust, then in the Corporate M&A and private equity department. In January 2001 he became Partner, in 2002 he managed the start-up of the Bologna office and in 2009 he became managing partner of the Abu Dhabi office.

From March 2021 to October 2024 he was managing partner of the Rome office of EY Studio Legale e Tributario and was in charge of the M&A and private equity department nationwide.

He focused his activity, all of an extrajudicial nature, on extraordinary transactions (share packages acquisitions, companies, joint ventures and corporate reorganisations and restructurings on listed and unlisted companies), advising, throughout the years, over 400 M&A and private equity transactions in Italy and abroad.

He has also advised intensively on investment funds for asset managers, SGRs, social security and pension funds as well as on a significant amount of mid-market transactions for the most important private equity and venture capital funds in the Italian market.

He contributed to the drafting of laws and regulations for several Italian governments and served in a number of government-appointed positions (e.g., being a member of the supervisory board of the Turin-Lyon TELT).

He successfully handled cross-border transactions in several EU countries, as well as in Turkey, Gulf countries, Algeria, China, Russia, Canada and the US.

He is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), and of the Commission of Structured Law Firms of the Consiglio dell'Ordine di Roma, and has received the Certificate of Gratitude from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates for his efforts in strengthening commercial relations between Italy and the UAE.
