Career

Ray Shankar is the Head of the Firm’s Private Wealth and Family Office Practice.

Ray advises ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families on estate and succession planning, wills, trusts, family governance, shareholder agreements and tax-efficient structures for holding personal and family assets. He frequently works with international families establishing their family offices in Singapore.

Having previously served as Chief Operating Officer in an ultra-high-net-worth family office in Asia, Ray has a deep understanding of the operational and personal needs of ultra-wealthy individuals and their families.

He has advised such families and their family offices on a broad range of matters arising from daily operations and investments. He has also advised royal families in the region on commercial structuring, legacy planning and crisis management.

Ray's practice advises clients across Asia, from Central to Southeast Asia. He has a strong appreciation of the commercial, political and cultural contexts in these regions and how they influence family dynamics and decision-making.

Ray maintains an active disputes practice involving trust and probate matters, as well as commercial disputes linked to family office investment activities.
