Philippa Barton

Philippa is a Director in the Court of Protection department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. She specialises in acting as a professional deputy and trustee for mentally incapacitated clients. Many of her clients have received substantial damages awards for brain injury claims. She also manages the financial affairs of clients with dementia, mental health problems and learning disabilities.

Philippa is sensitive and sympathetic in her dealings with clients and their families as many of her clients are vulnerable. She and her team are proud of the very personal service which their clients receive. She has experience of managing a wide range of complex family and financial circumstances. Where conflicts arise, Philippa takes a pragmatic and sympathetic approach to resolve difficult issues.

Philippa regularly publishes articles in the legal press on issues relating to professional deputyship and vulnerable clients.

Philippa also acts as an expert witness giving evidence as to likely future deputyship costs. Additionally, she is experienced in wills and probate work and is an accredited member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
