Phil is partner and heads up the Cripps team specialising in will, trust and inheritance disputes.

He has been helping clients resolve disputes concerning theirs or their family’s property and affairs for over 20 years. Phil understands the deeply personal nature of disputes involving private wealth and uses his experience and tactical acumen to resolve these for clients, whether by finding agreement through negotiation or mediation or by presenting clients arguments to the Court clearly and concisely.

Phil prides myself on being empathetic and pragmatic, focusing on understanding his clients’ objectives and developing the right strategy to achieve these.

Work Highlights

Acting for adult children in advising upon a complex claim being advanced under the Inheritance Act by the Deceased's second wife. The value of the estate was substantial, exceeding £20 million, and contained complex property and other assets.

Acting for an adult child in challenging the will made by her late father.

The disputed will was prepared following dishonest allegations being made against her and leading to her being disinherited;

Advising a family upon pursuing a challenge to a substantial estate on the basis that there existed a valid mutual wills agreement;

Advising in connection with an application under the Variation of Trusts Act where the value of the assets involved exceeded £20 million;

Advising clients in defending a claim based on proprietary estoppel relating to their entitlement to a substantial estate consisting of farm buildings and land.
