Paul Wright acts as an advocate, arbitrator, expert witness and an expert in expert determinations. Paul has a broad-based practice, involving all the main areas of commercial work and administrative law. He is regularly involved in international commercial arbitrations, including under the LCIA and ICC rules, as advocate and arbitrator. Given his extensive and varied experience, he is highly sought after for his advocacy and case management expertise in both the High Court and Arbitration forums, often acting along with lawyers from other jurisdictions for international clients.
Paul has a substantial and flourishing sanctions practice. He has advised about Russian, Belarusian, Iranian and Libyan sanctions. He is frequently instructed in sanctions cases with a commercial aspect, including shipping, trust, banking and insurance matters. His cases often involve complex offshore financial structures. He has acted for clients in relation to OFSI licence applications and OFSI investigations. He has advised numerous solicitors firms on the effects of sanctions on their practices. He has also been instructed as an expert to give evidence on UK sanctions law. He speaks at conferences and seminars on sanctions.
