Taxation of complex land transactions, settlements and partnerships and offshore structures and civil law entities. He deals with all taxes including SDLT and offshore taxation. He also appears for taxpayers before the Tax Tribunals with a particular experience in partnership taxation and the taxation of offshore funds.

Formerly a tax partner in a leading firm of solicitors.

Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Editor of Land Taxation and the chambers' journal, FCTC Digest. Former Tax Editor of the Property Law Bulletin. He has produced tax memoranda on a variety of tax topics including The Taxation of Non-Domiciliaries, The Statutory Residence Test , IHT Planning, The Taxation of Pension Schemes and Business Investment Relief

Mr. Soares is a well-known lecturer and chairs the annual Informa Conferences in London on Estate Planning, Private Client Offshore Taxation, the Taxation of UK Land Investment and Development Transactions and Corporate Taxation and Company Reorganisations.

Plays the clarinet and piano. Enjoys reading and cycling.
