Patrick C Soares advises on all aspects of taxation, providing notable expertise on the taxation and structuring of property transactions, as well as trusts and offshore tax planning and tax advocacy. Patrick Way QC has appeared in leading tax cases at all levels of the UK court system and has also advised on a wide range of matters (both personal and corporate) where the tax at stake has been in the multi-millions. Philip Baker QC is one of the leading tax advisers on international and EU tax matters, handling cases in jurisdictions including India and Mauritius and at the European Court of Justice. He advises the UK government and other governments on tax matters. He also was one of the founders of the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation offered by the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Imran S Afzal has been involved in a range of domestic and international matters, acting for taxpayers and revenue authorities. He has been instructed in various high-profile and very high-value matters. Peter Vaines is well known for his expertise on matters of residence and domicile and for advising on trusts and private client matters generally in the UK and overseas, in addition to wider issues such as tax investigations and share valuations for tax purposes. He writes and lectures widely and has won the Taxation Writer of the Year Award. David Bloom QC is a senior member of the Australian tax bar and has appeared in cases in Australia and Hong Kong. David is a practising member of the English Bar and also a member of the New York Bar. He has experience in transfer pricing in Australia, the US and Canada and has appeared for multinationals such as Chevron, G.E., BHP Biliton and Rio Tinto. Philip Goeth represented a financial institution in accounting related enforcement proceedings against the ECB, opined on a complex insurance transaction under IFRS, advised on international tax issues in respect of HNWI relocations, negotiated a EUR 100m financing in a leveraged buyout in CEE, advises on tax, accounting and regulatory issues in the context of a rearrangement of a banking-insurance group structure, and represents clients in commercial litigation in London, Vienna and Zurich. Katherine Bullock was called to the Bar in 1988 and was formerly a tax partner and Head of Private Client Services for PwC and a tax partner and Head of Private Client Services for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa at EY. She is recognised as one of the Private Client Practitioner’s Most Influential Private Client Advisers in the UK in 2013, 2014, and 2018 and in Spears Top 500 and 50 Top Tax Advisers in 2018. She advises on all areas of personal and corporate tax law, with particular emphasis on domestic and international matters for private clients and their companies, trusts and family structures. This includes succession planning, structuring property holdings, offshore and onshore trusts issues, restructuring or disposing of the family business, tax-efficient investment, setting up charities and residence and domicile issues.

Porus Kaka (India): *Porus is a Senior Advocate (India) and was President of the International Fiscal Association Worldwide (2013-2017). He was the first President from the Asian Region in its 75 years’ history. Previously, he represented India in the IFA’s Permanent Scientific Committee. He is currently a Trustee of International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (Netherlands) and Hon. President IFA. He is also on the Editorial Board of the World Tax Journal, and completed his LLM from Harvard Law School in the USA. His areas of practice include all Direct Tax and International Tax Treaty Laws and litigation.

Patrick Soares is the Tax Editor of the Property Law Bulletin. Katherine Bullock is the Editor of ‘Gammie and de Souza on Land Taxation.’ Also, Patrick Way QC, Philip Baker QC, Peter Vaines and Philip Goeth have between them written books on a wide range of tax related subjects including real estate, trusts, corporates, individuals, incentives, international tax and double taxation.
