State and federal court litigator, trial advocate, and regulatory advisor, Pam Mascari, resolves high-stakes litigation in and out of court involving a wide variety of complex environmental claims across all types of property contamination. Among her clients are energy, petrochemical, and manufacturing businesses, for whom she advises on litigation strategy and management involving the Louisiana state and federal court system and regulatory agencies. Pam also brings a proven track record of successful outcomes to resolving difficult, federal multi-district litigation proceedings inside and outside of the Louisiana courts.
Notably, Pam is among very few litigators in the state who have actually and successfully tried legacy litigation matters to conclusion. She is valued for her collaborative approach to dispute resolution and ability to serve and lead the most extensive teams of national counsel and joint defense groups – as many of her claims are complex and/or involve many moving parts.
On attack or defense, Pam is a highly pragmatic advisor to the core who believes in streamlining fact-based arguments that persuade opposing counsel, judges and juries alike to acquiesce to her client’s position. Appreciated for being easy to work with yet still a force to be reckoned with in and out of court, Pam is among the short-listed advocates other law firms select to assist them as local Louisiana litigation counsel. Pam’s relatable style makes her the regular choice of clients conduct juror research studies.
With a full appreciation of the practical, economic, and legal challenges associated with the energy industry, Pam guides a wide range of clients in realizing their business goals in an ever-changing compliance landscape. Her regulatory practice includes advocacy before the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Environmental Quality, involving intrastate pipeline, oil and gas, and water enforcement matters.
Moreover, Pam navigates industrial clients through the complex regulatory issues associated with water, solid waste, USTs, wetlands, release reporting, incident response, and environmental permitting and enforcement. Her substantive knowledge of the law and insight into how regulators approach and address issues implicated by her clients’ activities allow her to develop an effective approach to problem-solving and advocacy that is aligned with their distinct objectives.
In addition to her flourishing practice as a litigator and regulatory advisor, Pam was invited to serve on the Advisory Council of the Mineral Law Institute at the LSU Law Center and has been appointed to the Mineral Law Committee of the Louisiana State Law Institute since 2018.
