Practice Areas
Oscar is a partner in the IP practice in the Netherlands. He has almost two decades of experience in international patent and other technology-related disputes. Oscar acts as a strategic adviser to clients, helping them navigate complex legal, commercial and technical challenges. With a background in industrial engineering, he is well placed to represent a wide range of multinational clients active in telecoms, electronics, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
His cases are mostly cross-border, and he often works at the intersection of different areas of law, such as patent law and competition law.

Oscar regularly publishes on patent law and frequently speaks at national and international congresses. He’s also a lecturer at Radboud University for the Professional Training Programme for Dutch Patent Attorneys, teaching the UPC component of the Patent Law module.
Career
Oscar began his career in 2007 at a leading law firm in the Netherlands, where he developed a strong track record in patent litigation and advisory work for both national and international clients. In 2020, he joined Simmons & Simmons as a partner, where he continues to advise and represent clients in high-profile patent cases.

Personal
Oscar lives in Amsterdam and in summer enjoys spending time boating on the Amsterdam canals with friends and family. He was always the neighbour kid people would call when a computer stopped working, and that practical interest in technology has never really left him. When generative AI tools such as ChatGPT became available, he was among the early adopters and has since been a driving force behind the adoption of AI within the firm. He values straightforwardness, clarity and a bit of dry humour in both professional and personal life.
Clients
Advises and represents primarily multinational corporations, but also regularly acts for high-tech start-ups and other companies across the innovation spectrum.
