Olivier is a partner in Osler’s National Tax Group based in Toronto and Montréal. His practice focuses on tax litigation and controversy, advising Canadian and international clients on complex tax audits and disputes both in and out of court.
As a litigator, he regularly appears before both the federal and Québec courts on tax matters, including at the appellate level.
A thought leader in Canadian tax law and former governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation, Oliver regularly contributes to the tax community through speaking and writing on significant tax issues. He was named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2020.
Prior to joining Osler, Olivier led the affiliated law firm of a national accounting firm as well as its national tax disputes practice.
He has acted in matters before the Tax Court of Canada, the Court of Québec, the Superior Court of Québec, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal.
He is a governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF), as well as an active speaker, writer and presenter at various conferences and seminars such for the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF) and the CTF. Olivier was featured as one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars in 2020.
Olivier was called to the Bar of Québec in 2006, after receiving an MBA from the University of Ottawa (2005), and an LL.L., 2005 – magna cum laude and a B.Sc. (Biology), 2002 from the University of Ottawa. Olivier was also admitted to the Law Society of Ontario in 2021.
