Career
Nuno Antunes joined Miranda in 2006. Co-heads the ‘Energy and Natural Resources’ practice. His practice focuses on energy cuts across all sub-sectors (oil and gas, LNG, power, renewables, hydrogen, CCUS), covering complex energy-related constitutional and public law, regulatory, environmental, HSE, procurement, finance and ESG, tax, land, transactional, investment, and contract matters, while spreading over multiple jurisdictions (Portugal, Lusophone and Francophone Africa, Timor-Leste).
Before joining Miranda, Nuno was legal advisor to the Prime-Minister of Timor-Leste for the petroleum sector, having advised also on maritime boundary negotiation matters.
He is a visiting professor at the Catholic University (Lisbon), where he teaches energy and energy taxation at post-graduate level. He has been appointed lead of the Hydrogen Taskforce of the Association of International Energy Negotiators.
Nuno is also a law of the sea expert, who is a member of the list of arbitrators of the ‘1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea’, holding a Ph.D. by the University of Durham (UK) on maritime boundary delimitation.

Nuno is a published author, with a series of books and articles. His seminal work ‘Towards the Conceptualisation of Maritime Delimitation: Legal and Technical Aspects of a Political Process’ (Martinus Nijhoff, 2003) stands out for the recognition it has received internationally.
