Nikhil Narayan Ramkarran obtained a law degree from the University of the West Indies in 1998 and graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad in September 2000.

He joined Cameron & Shepherd as an associate counsel upon his admission to the bar in November 2000 and since then has adopted the firm’s specialization in general civil and commercial litigation as his own.

Mr. Ramkarran became a partner in 2005 and has assisted in the modernisation of the firm, transitioning from typewriters to word processors and eventually to a fully networked computer system.

He is a hobbyist and self-taught photographer and has received recognition for his photographic work, winning the gold medal for photography at the Guyana Visual Arts Competition in both 2012 and 2016. His photographs have been published in local magazines and international newspapers.

Since 2004, Mr. Ramkarran has served as the chairperson of the Guyana Stock Exchange. He also contributed to the community as honorary counsel for the Guyana Red Cross Society from 2009 to 2015 and via direct participation in the objectives of NGO Eiripan prior to 2018.
