Nick Hoffman is the global head of our Litigation & Insolvency and Restructuring group, based in our Cayman Islands office, and a member of our Executive Committee. He specialises in insolvency and restructuring, financial services litigation, company disputes, and fraud. His clients include banks, multinational corporations, and financial services professionals.
He has practised in the Cayman Islands since 2011 and is recognised as a leading Cayman litigator. Prior to joining us, he led the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group at another Cayman offshore law firm. He is a highly skilled and experienced advocate with more than a decade at the London Bar. He is known for his insight and knowledge and provides clients with pragmatic and commercial advice.
Nick has appeared as both leading and junior counsel at all levels of the Cayman Court system, from Grand Court to the Privy Council.
Work Highlights
Advising Luckin, Coffee Inc, in a ground-breaking restructuring in which the company has successfully compromised its debts and liabilities in both Cayman and the US through parallel processes which included the utilisation of a scheme of arrangements in the Cayman Islands.
Instrumental in cultivating Harneys leading s238 shareholder appraisal practice advising in a variety of cases including the privatisations of iKang Heathcare Group Inc., 58.com and the seminal case of Trina Solar Co Ltd. formerly listed and traded on the New York Stock Exchange, Trina Solar is a global leading provider of integrated solar power products and solar system developer based in China.
Advising American Insurance Group in connection with the liquidation of Performance Insurance Company SPC.
Advising CNO Financial Group, in the long running liquidation of Platinum Partners Vantage Arbitrage Fund LP (Platinum Master Fund).
Advisor to a variety of fund directors, managers and investment vehicles in dealing with distressed asset portfolios in connection with voluntary and court-supervised wind-downs.
Advising HRH Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in a long running dispute concerning marital investment vehicles in the Cayman Islands.
