Nick is a senior leader in our Energy Sector team and is the Head of our Projects, Energy and Infrastructure practice.
Nick has practiced in Melbourne, Sydney, New York and New Zealand. His regular clients include: AGL, Acciona, Alinta, bp, Brookfield, CIMIC, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change (Vic)/State Electricity Commission (SEC), ENGIE, Elecnor, Grok Ventures, Iberdrola, ICG, IFM, I Squared Capital, Macquarie Capital, Mint Renewables (part of Morrison), Ofer Global/New Zealand Oil & Gas, Pacific Partnerships (owned by CIMIC) and QIC each of which he has acted for on multiple transactions.
Work Highlights
Nick’s 2023 experience includes advising:
• AGL in respect of continuous disclosure issues relating to its closure agreement for Loy Yang A and on various wholesale trading issues.
• State Electricity Corporation on its Pioneer Investment Process, including investment into and offtake from the Equis developed Melton Energy Hub, which when complete will be the largest BESS in Asia-Pacific.
• bp on the acquisition of additional equity interests in the 26GW Asia Renewable Energy Hub from CWP Global and Macquarie Capital.
• Grok Ventures on its acquisition and restructure of the Sun Cable project from administration and the appointment of Quinbrook Partners as development partner.
• Pacific Partnerships on its binding bid for bp Lightsource’s recently sold portfolio and their equity selldown of Glenrowan Solar Farm.
• Brookfield on its joint development and option agreement with Greenleaf Renewables for the proposed 400MW Moonlight Range Wind Farm.
• ESCO Pacific on the sale of the Australian solar developer ESCO Pacific to Nasdaq Nordic listed OX2.
• OX2 on the proposed sale of the Mulwalla and Lancaster Solar Farm development projects.
• TasRex on its proposed Bass Strait offshore wind farm project.
• RWE on the establishment of its Australian energy commodities trading business.
