Michael is a specialist in employment law with deep expertise across its associated fields. Since 2013 he has served as a part-time Employment Judge in England and is uniquely the only practising barrister to sit in a similar capacity in the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal.
He was among the first Legally Qualified Chairs of Police Disciplinary Panels, holding that position until the role was abolished. Trusted with highly sensitive matters, Michael is security-vetted to act in cases involving national security.
Career
Michael practises across the full spectrum of employment law, with particular expertise in discrimination claims, TUPE, unfair and wrongful dismissal, and Working Time Regulation disputes. His clients range from individuals to multinational corporations, alongside regular instructions from local authorities, public sector employers, and trade unions.
He serves as an External Examiner in Employment Law at City, St George’s University of London, and has held regulatory roles including membership of the both the Bar Standards Board’s Independent Decision-Making Body and the Professional Conduct Committee, and Disciplinary Assessor for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
