Meriam advises on complex international disputes with a focus on public international law, including issues related to human rights, international investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration, and foreign investor risk management. Her practice covers various sectors, including mining, TMT, infrastructure, energy, textiles and hospitality.

With well over a decade of experience, Meriam has established herself as one of the world’s foremost international arbitration and human rights practitioners, serving as lead counsel on an impressively diverse portfolio, including growing a group with extensive experience in Business and Human Rights. Shortly after her arrival to Eversheds Sutherland in March 2020, Meriam helped form one of the world’s largest full-service International Arbitration groups and was quickly elected Global Co-Chair of the practice and Co-Chair of the Latin America Arbitration Group. As Global Co-Chair, Meriam leads with a commitment to fostering diversity, social advocacy, gender and racial equality, and openly advocates on all available platforms for changing the official rules of all International Arbitration Institutions to make inclusion of women on every arbitral panel mandatory. Clients actively seek out Meriam to use her voice in the international legal community in both public and private international law, and on international human rights issues, and Business and Human Rights, as she leads with an emphasis on justice, equality, diversity and inclusion.
