Career
Maurício Faro is one of BMA’s tax partners. He concentrates his practice on tax litigation, both at the administrative level (federal and state tax appeals boards) and before the courts, acting in precedent-setting cases before the state and federal appeal courts. He is regularly involved in constitutional challenges and other major cases before Brazil’s highest courts, the Supreme Federal Court and the Superior Court of Justice.
Maurício also has significant experience in advising clients during tax audits related to investigations into tax crimes.
His clients are national and international companies from a variety of sectors such as oil and gas, retail distributors, retail chains, pharmaceuticals, power concessions, beverages, and insurance and reinsurance, and agribusiness.
Maurício is part of the faculty of the Continuing Education Programs at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica – PUC/RJ and Fundação Getúlio Vargas – FGV/RJ law schools.
He has served four times as the tax law specialist on the examining committee in examinations for admission to the State of Rio de Janeiro Public Prosecution Service, and is a frequent speaker on tax law and tax procedure law at legal conferences and events throughout Brazil.
