Mathew Stulic

Mathew Stulic is a leading Australian construction, major projects and infrastructure lawyer. He is a strategic adviser on all phases of the project lifecycle. He has a particular focus on dispute avoidance, resolution, claims management and strategic advice.

Mathew seeks to collaborate with clients to understand their commercial objectives, assist in developing strategies to achieve those commercial objectives and then manage implementation. His primary focus is the cost effective resolution of claims and disputes through a variety of ADR techniques, but where that is not possible, to assist clients in formal dispute processes such as litigation, arbitration and adjudication. Mathew is a market leader in the management of security of payment risks, advising on countless adjudication processes and appearing for parties in many of the lead cases in recent years, including in the High Court of Australia, the NSW Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of NSW, often testing novel points of law.

Mathew’s recent work at Maddocks has included advice in the rail, renewable energy and water sectors and he is advising a number of developers and major contractors in respect of management of commercial risks associated with residential apartment defects in NSW.
