Lucia Stuhldreier

Lucia Stuhldreier advises shippers on all aspects of rail transportation, including negotiations of rail transportation agreements, rate and service matters, acquisitions and leases of rail equipment, agreements for the construction, acquisition and use of rail trackage, as well as the development of overall transportation strategies involving rail. She has also acted as counsel to terminals, short-line railways, and provincial and municipal governments in transactions and disputes with major rail carriers. Lucia has extensive experience in using regulatory remedies to resolve disputes over freight rates and service, access to competing rail carriers, and rail line abandonment. Lucia regularly represents clients in contested proceedings involving rail matters before arbitrators, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. She regularly assists shipper associations in matters involving rail transportation policy and legislative initiatives and has prepared submissions and appeared in statutory reviews and parliamentary committee proceedings to represent shippers’ interests. Her road transportation practice includes advising shippers, freight brokers and motor carriers on trucking contracts and regulatory matters.
