Practice Areas
Louis is an immensely experienced practitioner, specialising in civil law. He has an extensive personal injury practice representing parties in claims of the utmost seriousness/fatal accidents, In addition, he practises in the fields of public law, inquests, professional negligence, and data protection. He also has wide experience of claims against the police. He is on the approved list of Government Silks.
In public law and judicial review claims, he frequently acts on behalf of both claimants and defendants in the Administrative Court. His particular areas of specialism are human rights-based challenges in the context of community care, education and mental health. He most recently appeared in the nationally known case of R(Anderson) v Liverpool City Council [2021] EWHC 2205 (Admin).
Louis has very extensive experience in acting for families and public authorities/government bodies at Inquests and Inquiries. He also advises/appears at judicial reviews arising from inquests.
Louis is frequently instructed in the most high-profile cases. He is presently representing a Senior Fire Officer and the Fire Officers Association at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. He also represents the University of Salford at the Manchester Arena Inquiry.
